Eurostar the high speed rail operator revealed they were expecting to take more than 110,000 tourists on its services over Valentine’s Day weekend.

To get into the spirit of the occasion, Eurostar are also offering a speed dating service on their ‘high speed’ service on Saturday 14th February for all students of London’s University of the Arts.

Travellers will not only be boosted on the service due to the romance of the occasion but sports fans are also travelling to Paris to watch Scotland play France for the huge Six Nations rugby match.

Director of Eurostar, Simon Montague said:

‘Passion for a beloved one or fervour for sport is without doubt inspiring people to travel on Eurostar. We are also looking forward to high-speed dating on board our trains. We hope that the event will be a success and it will be interesting to see whether it could be a model which could be developed for other speed dating events on selected Eurostar trains in the future. Eurostar is laying on extra trains this weekend to cater for the higher demand for travel.’

The Channel Tunnel has now been repaired so additional services are possible with the rail operation that will be fully re-opened on 9th February.
