A City Break On The QE2?
Well I never. A cruise has never appealed to me as I love my city breaks, however, apparently I will soon be able to combine the two!!
Tomorrow, Queen Elizabeth II will say farewell to the luxury cruise ship, the QE2, named after her majesty when she launched the ship in 1967. With a 42-gun salute at midday and a 61-gun salute one hour later, accompanied by around 300 invited guests, including 9 QE2 captains, the Queen will bid farewell as the ship leaves Southampton.
The ship will retire in November this year but that’s not the end of it. It’s been bought for a rumoured £50 million by Dubai World and is soon to be a luxury floating ship close to Dubai. So next time I fancy a city break to Dubai, I can combine it with a stay on the QE2, nice!
