All airline passengers should have proper insurance cover
The AUC – (Air Transport Users Council) has been busy in its attempts to protect the public, holiday makers and travelers by putting more pressure on the government in favour of seeing changes to current regulations in order that passengers in the United Kingdom would have full cover to protect them and ensure they would not lose any of their flight or holiday money should they experience some kind of major failure from the airline in completely failing to provide the flight / service that they have advertised.
The Air Transport Users Council are pushing this change to current airline regulations after the complete collapse of the well known XL Leisure Group which saw thousands of its customers who had already paid for their holidays out of pocket with no chance of getting their money back which is solely due to the fact that these types of flight deals were not financially covered by either ATOL or ABTA, (Association of British Travel Agents) which would have provided insurance when its’ carrier member ceases to operate flights or holidays under certain circumstances.
The Air Transport Users Council has already attempted to contact the Transport Secretary, Geoff Hoon, in order to ask him if he would consider the inclusion of airline passengers on its current protection schemes. Most of the industry organizations from ABTA, the AUC and the Civil Aviation Authority (who run ATOL), have all made previous attempts to persuade the Government for ensuring that all airline customers are covered properly.
