Alsace tourist board who are representing the region of France have just announced more details regarding two brand new luxury hotels due to open in 2009.

The properties are both housed at historical sites of interest, with the medieval castle of Hotel Couronne d’Or only 20 minutes from Strasbourg.

One of the properties is based next to Scharrachbergheim a vineyard along the famous Alsace wine route; it is due to open as a 48 room hotel in April 2009 after a major refurbishment of the whole castle and surrounding buildings.

Hotel facilities are to include a swimming pool, restaurant and a health centre.

Hotel Cour du Corbeau is a half timbered house located in central Strasbourg and was a former inn which was originally built during the late 16th century. This hotel is due to open in May and will have 57 bedrooms which will range from standard to deluxe.

The new hotels are owned by Sogeho Group, who is currently developing a further chateau in the city of Niedernai which is to open as a hotel/spa in 2010.

The Alsace region is located on the French eastern border with Germany and is famous for its wine routes.
