Any flights to the city of Amsterdam may well be in high demand as the end of April approaches and the city’s annual Queen’s Day celebrations.

Annually on 30th April, the cosmopolitan Dutch capital holds a huge public party in the streets and bars to celebrate the birthday of the Queen of the Netherlands which also promotes the sense of a national togetherness for the Dutch.

These tradition celebrations will begin on 31st August 1885 and were changed to 30th April 1949 for celebrating the birthday of famous Queen Juliana, ever since 1949 the date has been kept in the Dutch annual diary.

More than half a million visitors will be attracted to Amsterdam which will be the centre of Queen’s Day celebrations. 500,000 travellers and locals a year enjoy a host of open air concerts, public parties, parades and many other events in the capital city.

The celebrations are also a fun time for families with children to see the fireworks displays and street theatre performances along with traditional craft shows. There are giant street markets for older visitors to browse though in the streets of the city.

Amsterdam is one of Europe’s most popular city break destination and the airlines that cater for flights to the capital are British Airways, Air France, KLM and VLM Airlines.
