Are Package City Breaks Dead?

I remember the days when the only option we had was to go down to the high street, pick up a brochure, wait ages to see a travel agent, and book a package holiday city break through them.

Nowadays, how different things are!  The advent of the internet has changed many things and one huge area has been the travel sector.  Even my grandma would check the internet before booking a holiday now!

More and more people are booking their city break independently.  The internet has made it so easy to shop around and flights and hotels no longer have to be booked together.  I can’t remember the last time I booked a city break as a package holiday.  Does that mean that the days of the package holiday are long gone and we’ll never book a city break as a package holiday again?

Even the package holidays advertised in the newspapers are fewer in number now.  Alright, there are still some great deals to be had but they are so restrictive.  I think unless you’re severely strapped for cash and just want everything sorted out for you, then you would be mad not to book them separately.  Personally, I think the answer is yes - no more package holidays for me, ever!
