Are the British holiday snobs?
Research and recently shown that most British holiday makers are put off travelling to destinations where there is likely to be a high number of fellow British tourists.Private bank Cater Allen carried out a survey and results showed that 57% of British people will shun the mainstream beach holiday hot spots due to these places being full of tourists.
Over half of those people who were asked said that due to the bad behaviour from British holiday makers abroad and on holiday puts the average holiday off travelling to the most popular holiday destinations.
When asked about their accommodation, 36% said they would prefer a luxury villa on the beach and 14% of those asked said they would prefer a deluxe hotel complex with 12% stating that they would prefer a five-star city hotel.
Cater Allen’s director of marketing, Sally Watts, said:
‘Britons are becoming more discerning about where they holiday and are keen to avoid stereotypes of British unruliness abroad. Indeed, today’s international Britons are far removed from this image, preferring luxury lodges and holidays that reflect their ambitions.’
More than a third of the people survyed said that they consider taking a good holiday to be one of the most important things in their lives.
