Australia has just had a publicity boom through the release of the film Baz Luhrmann which has been named after the country claims the country’s national tourist board.

Geoff Buckley is the Managing director of the Australian tourist board and he recently was noted at saying that the new film starring the biggest Hollywood A-listers Hugh Jackson and Nicole Kidman would help hugely to aiding the country of Australia in maintaining a high world-wide profile encouraging tourism to the country in the future.

Australia’s travel and media are all excited about the new film and there is much interest sparked says Geoff Buckley which is also due to roll out at the same time as Australia’s promotion ‘Come Walkabout’ a tourism campaign.

Geoff Buckley has acknowledged the current economic downturn meant a substantial decline in holiday makers to Australia in 2009 he felt that the situation would start seeing some improvement by 2010.

He sated: ‘Whilst we are realistic that the global financial crisis will result in a decline in international visitors to Australia in 2009, we believe that by keeping Australia front of mind amongst consumers we can minimise the impact of the crisis this year and lay a foundation for a return to growth in 2010.’
