Australian tourism initiative is supported by Qantas airlines
In a recent industry related publication the successful Australian carrier Qantas Airlines announced that it was providing support for the new tourism industry support packaged which was launched just recently by the government in Australia, a direct action which is the result of the recent bushfires and decimation throughout the South Eastern state of Victoria. Quantas have give Aus $10 million (£4.8 million) to the scheme.
This is the initiative that will fully aid the recovery of the tourist industry within the areas that were directly affected by the recent fires through the provision of infrastructure and marketing support for all their local destinations and operators.
Quantas’ executive general manager, David Epstein claimed that the support would go towards helping to rebuild the local economies through encouraging interstate and international visitors to visit Victoria again.
Further Points:‘Tourism is worth more than a billion dollars each year to the Yarra Valley, the Dandenong Ranges, Gippsland and the High Country. The viability of the sector is absolutely critical to their local economies and thousands of local jobs,’ Mr Epstein added. For Qantas’ part, we welcome this package and hope to see bookings and visitor numbers begin to reflect the increased investment in tourism marketing and infrastructure.’
