BAA Selling Gatwick Airport

City break lovers are assured that business from Gatwick Airport will not change in light of the fact that BAA is selling the airport.

BAA runs many UK international airports and following a meeting and investigation by the Competition Commission, they decided to break up the monopoly that BAA has in the London area with its three airports.

BAA decided to sell London Gatwick and there are rumours of several companies wanting to make a bid including Manchester Airport Group and even Virgin Atlantic has said it would be interested in making a bid if it was as part of a consortium,  although I’m not sure if that would not have a conflict of interest.  In fact, I am surprised that the Competition Commission did not make this decision some time ago as it is clearly a competition issue if one operator runs all three of the capital city’s airports.

We wait and see..
