Bank Holiday Sees 2 Million Brits Flee The Country
May
26th
I hope you’re all enjoying your Bank Holiday weekend, from wherever you are. With the poor weather forecasts for this weekend, I wasn’t sure whether I should be trying to book a last minute city break, but I decided against it so here I am, still in old Blighty.
However, according to ABTA, going abroad for this Bank Holiday weekend is a popular option. Around 1.9 million holidaymakers decided to go abroad, probably because of the poor weather forecast or for a half term break with the kids.
Spain, the Canary Islands and the usual suspects such as Greece, Italy, Egypt and the Balearics were the most popular destinations but city breaks are certainly up there. New York, Dublin, Rome, Paris and Amsterdam were the most popular city breaks.
