Many city break destinations are within a reasonable drive of the UK, so many Brits like to jump in their cars and set off for a drive across Europe. One thing you might want to check before you go though, is does your UK car insurance cover you for driving abroad?
If you arne’t covered, not only does this mean that one of your most expensive possessions is at risk, but what about you? Accidents abroad cost a lot more than accidents in the UK. Not only would having an accident abroad be very stressful but to then discover that your breakdown cover doesn’t work, nor are your costs covered by your car insurance would be a disaster for most people.
Be sure to check your policy. Many UK fully comprehensive car insurance policies go to third party only when abroad or the legal minimum requirement. It may well be worth paying a small additional premium to make sure you have the cover you need or that simple one day trip to France could turn into a nightmare!
