British Airways currently operates a long haul flight from Manchester Airport to JFK Airport at New York, however, it is the last long haul flight outside London that they operate - and now they’ve announced they’re going to stop it!

Manchester Airport say that the decision was made without talking to them or talking about how they could help.  BA says it’s a commercial decision and that the route has been making a loss for ages, despite figures from the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) saying that more than 143000 people flew from MCR to JFK in the last year, including the BA route.

So, if you want a city break to New York now and want to fly from Manchester, then you will have only one choice for the time being - American airline, Delta Airlines.  However, Manchester Airport representatives do say that they’re in talks with other airlines and are confident one will take over the route.
