Brits Food Choice Becoming More Cultured
There is a stereotypical image of the British who visit foreign countries and deliberately go in search of a full English breakfast or fish and chips, but apparently this image is fast becoming a thing of the past.
Recent research by the World Travel Market showed that around 86 per cent of British people now make the effort to try foreign food whilst they are abroad.
Many foreign foods have been welcome in the UK and we have a growing abundance of foreign restaurants here that are proving popular, such as Indian, Chinese, Thai, Spanish and Italian. According to the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), we Brits are more interested in trying foreign cuisine now.
An ABTA rep said:
“Our food experiences have improved in this country and as a result we want to taste the best when we are on holiday. Meal times are an ideal time to relax, have good conversation and you are ideally with people you want to be with on holiday - enjoying good food and wine to go with that just cements that holiday experience.”
City breaks enable us to try new foreign food and new experiences cheaply and without committing two weeks of our holidays to just the one destination.
