Brits like a home away from home
According to the Association for Independent Tour Operators, we Brits really do prefer to holiday in places that have a British feel and where they have a better infrastructure, and more things to do and see - like tourist attractions I guess.
That seems a shame but I guess it would show why people prefer city breaks in places like Hong Kong and Singapore where the technology is there, or places like Paris where they know where to go and what to do to get their money’s worth because there are published guides available.
Further Points:A spokesperson for the Association said:
“Even though we’re away from home, people still want the feeling of home. The Middle East is proving popular, you’ve got lots of hotel capacity in Dubai. Other places like Muscat in Oman or Bahrain and Abu Dhabi are popular as it has great choices, good weather and friendly people. There are certain towns that have a British feel.”
