Budapest has a magical variety of grand churches and palaces with atmospheric streets and a stunning church. Budapest is the perfect experience for history and art fanatics and has numerous architectural gems and iconic sights to discover. The gothic parliament building is worth a look as is the basilica of St Stephen. Budapest also has an immensely enjoyable cafe culture and hosts a myriad of traditional cafes in its narrow, historic streets.

If you are taking a short city break to Budapest and you are into your art and culture the Applied Arts Museum is a must for exquisite paintings and art treasures and paintings. The Aquincum Museum is also very interesting in its depictions of the original Roman settlement and various showcases of ancient Roman life in Budapest. You will also find world class ballet and inspiring opera at the National Concert Hall. Vaci Street is full of exciting and quirky shops and evocative street bazaars.

The most inspirational activity if you are taking a short break is to sample the healing spa waters that Budapest is so famous for. The city attracts people from all over the world to experience Budapest’s luxury resorts and historic public spas. With some of the most exclusive hydrotherapy treatments available it is certainly something that should be sampled whilst you are there.

Another great pursuit whilst in Budapest is to take a cruise down the famous River Danube – from here you can really enjoy the city’s history and colourful heritage.
