City of Egypt - Sharm el Sheikh
If there is a city that ever impressed me, it’s Sharm el Sheikh. Sometimes affectionately referred to simply as ‘Sharm’, Sharm el Sheikh is situated on the southern coast of Egypt, on the Sinai peninsula, right next to the Red Sea.
You probably know it’s a diver’s paradise, most people know that and that’s how they’ve heard of it but there’s much more to Sharm el Sheikh than simply diving. Sure, it has other watersports, such as the usual windsurfing, snorkelling and banana boat riding, but did you know just how activity-packed it is? Here are my top favourite activities, all available in the resort of Sharm el Sheikh:
Camel riding (hey, it’s Egypt, it had to be in there)
Horse riding
Hot air balloon riding
Discos/nightclubs
Golf resorts
Health spas (and they know how to look after you in Egypt)
Desert safaris
Parasailing
Egypt has a year-long dry climate with long stretches of gorgeous beaches, surprisingly untouched as yet, and clear, calm waters. Its diving and coral reefs are considered amongst the best in the world, arguably better than the Great Barrier Reef, which is fast being damaged due to unchecked tourism, with more than 1000 species of fish in the waters.
The nightlife is lively and active, with many bars gaining recognition for their dancing and colourful parties.
With such a luxurious venue, you might expect the price tag of this one to be quite high, but it’s probably much cheaper than you think and it’s often included in last minute bargain holidays too.
