Could Manchester Airport Get Its Metrolink?
Manchester city centre already has a very successful Metrolink network, praised by many for its efficiency, keeping traffic off the roads, etc etc.
There has been much talk recently about connecting Manchester Airport to the Metrolink and now a confederation of companies, called United City, has publicly voiced its support for the plans.
I think the plan is a great idea. Take my trip to Dublin earlier this month for example. Luckily I know somebody who lives very close to Manchester Airport so I was able to leave my car at their home and take a taxi to the airport, but otherwise it is very expensive for me. I either have to pay for airport parking - expensive - or take an airport taxi - also expensive. Why not connect the airport to the Metrolink? It would not only be far cheaper for those who live in the city, but more convenient for those arriving at Manchester and to encourage the use of public transport. After all, who wants to go to the hassle of getting a train to Manchester city centre and then have to take a taxi anyway?
The new Metrolink connection has my vote! What do you think?
