Dover, the UK port has just recently begun reporting that the cruising industry is seeing a boom already this year even despite the recession and global credit crunch.

There have seemed to have been many people who have found that taking a holiday this year may actually be cheaper if the holiday is completely planned before they go so they don’t need to spend too much in additional funds. Classically, cruise companies give you an all-in holiday price which generally includes; accommodation, transfers, flights, all meals, entertainment and some drinks. People are now seeing that they can control their money better if everything is covered at the beginning with an ‘all inclusive’ holiday deal.

Kate O’Hara, head of marketing at the port, said the all-inclusive nature of cruises is a ‘major plus’ for travellers who are hoping to stick to a set budget. She added:

‘The demographic spread of cruise travellers - many of whom are not affected by mortgage interest rates or job insecurity - is a major growth factor. The cruise industry has broadened dramatically over recent years and has become increasingly popular among families.’

Dover is due to boost its profile at the 2009 Cruise Convention between 17th and 19th June inclusive.
