A city break to Dubai is still an unusual choice for most British families, however, Dubai hopes to change this over the next few years as it aims to increase the number of visitors to 15 million tourists per year by 2015 and the emirates hotspot believes it can do this with the help of its new developments.

These includes lots of new hotels, which will take the number of hotel rooms up to 63,000 by 2010.

Ian Scott, director of the UK office of the Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing department, said:

“Dubai is a destination where you can expect the best; known for its ground-breaking projects the emirate continues to expand its globally acclaimed leisure and business facilities of superlative quality.”

Dubailand should help with the goal that the city has of becoming the number one family destination for the Ireland and UK market by 2012.  Dubailand will consist of 24 different theme parks, including Universal and Marvel Entertainment, and will be bigger than Walt Disneyworld Florida.  If it does that, it has my vote!
