Exchange Rates Awful
I’m gutted. Today, I’m going to get some Euros ready for my Dublin city break this weekend (I fly out on Friday) and I’ve only just checked the exchange rate. When I last bought Euros, it was nowhere near this bad. The current exchange rate from pounds to euro is only 1.219 - admittedly, my city breaks have been a little sparse this year because of my forthcoming planned trip to New York, but I’m used to getting around 1.40 at least. I knew it had fallen but really didn’t realise by how much.
I’ve also checked the exchange rate from pounds to dollars, seeing as I was looking and am gutted (again) to see that the dollar is currently at its strongest against the pound as it has been for the last two years. It’s still pretty good in my opinion at 1.90, but when I went to New York in 2004 we got around 2 dollars to the pound so it’s dropped quite a bit and experts are forecasting that it will drop even lower before the end of the year, which isn’t good for me. We’ve deliberately planned this New York trip for January to catch the January sales and the flights prices have also increased because of the rising cost of fuel. Guess I’ll have to save up a little more!
