Gallaghers Restaurant, Dublin
In an article yesterday, we talked about the downside of the Temple Bar area in Dublin. However, to be fair, it has some fantastic restaurants, one of which I’ve frequented on more than one occasion - Gallaghers Boxty Restaurant.
A boxty, if you’re wondering, is a traditional Irish dish. It’s a pancake filled with various fillings, such as lamb, beef, seafood, vegetables, anything really. It might sound weird but surprisingly it works. The pancake is really thin, cooked on a hot griddle and served with vegetables.
If that doesn’t do it for you, there’ll be plenty on the menu that does. They do great steaks, oysters, catch of the day, a wonderful cheese platter and I absolutely must recommend the Baileys cheesecake.
Like all good restaurants though, be sure to book if you want to get a table on a Friday or Saturday night. If you turn up at 7pm, you’ll be lucky if they can squeeze you in before 10pm. If it’s too late for you to book, then make a point of nipping down late in the afternoon on Sunday and you might get lucky.
