Legoland comes to America
A recently planning permission consent in California was passed to allow the building of the United State’s first Legoland hotel which is expected to draw larger crowds of holiday makers to California each year.
The City of Carlsbad Planning Commission passed the proposal for the new hotel and the California Coastal Commission and Carlsbad City Council are due to sign off the proposal soon.
Peter Ronchetti the new General Manager for Legoland California said the Planning Commission’s decision was ‘an exciting step forward in the development process for the hotel.
’ He went on to add: ‘While the opening of the hotel is not in the immediate future, we are looking forward to this new chapter in our development as we bring the Legoland experience to the next level for our guests.’
The new hotel is being built on the right of the main entrance to in the Legoland Park and will have the capacity to provide 250 bedrooms on three storeys.
Whilst this hotel is the second Legoland hotel in the world (the first opened in 1991 in Billund, Denmark which is the birthplace to the company), this is the first ever Legoland built outside Europe and will also be the largest as Denmark’s maiden hotel offers 176 rooms.
