Lisbon is located in Portugal, by the river Tagus and has a harbous that has been used for more than 3000 years.  You cannot visit Lisbon without seeing the Praca do Comercio square with its magnificant building facing onto the riverfront.

Lisbon is a city of contrasts, including high rise buildings, Art Nouveau buildings, pretty patterned pavements and brightly coloured buildings.  You can go out on the boats for fishing or sunbathing, see the panoramic views, visit the local monastery and church or the National Museum.  Lisbon has a wealth of history, being on the sea route to India from 1498 but by the seventeenth centure Portugal was in decline.

An earthquake hit Lisbon in 1755 and is has never fully recovered, although nowadays it is one of the great European cities and fabulous for a city break.
