Mobile Boarding Pass
I don’t know if this is a good idea or not, but if you’re considering a city break to Paris, you might get the chance to try it and then you can let me know!
The airline Air France is trialling mobile boarding passes. What this means is that you only need personal identification on paper and everything else is electronic, no more boarding passes or paper tickets.
You simply register your mobile telephone number with the airline and then they SMS you a barcode, which contains all the information your old boarding pass would have had. If your mobile is internet enabled, they’ll even email you the barcode.
You turn up at the airport, scan your mobile message and then the steward/stewardess checks it before you board the plane.
Sounds simple, but people lose their mobile or have it stolen, whereas you wouldn’t normally be carrying your boarding pass around with you. What happens then?
Anyway, it’s being trialled firstly on flights between Paris and Amsterdan and if successful, may then be rolled out.
