Motoring Costs for City Breaks
When you go on city breaks, it is not always necessary to have car hire or even use a car, as you may find the majority of major sightseeing destinations are within easy walking range or public transport.
However, in many countries, there are several cities close enough together or where there are a few places of interest a little further out, and so you may want to hire a car, even if it is just for a few days.
With money a little tight this year, you may be interested to hear the results of the Post Office Travel Services latest Motoring on the Continent report. This shows that when taking into account the cost of a three day rental car hire and fuel costs, Spain turned out to be the cheapest destination in Europe by far. The total number of countries looked at was 20, and overall Florida was the cheapest.
Turkey is also a cheap destination for car hire but it has one of the highest fuel costs in Europe, making it far more expensive overall. The most expensive country was Greece.
