Those searching for a luxury city break somewhere different may have already tried or considered Hong Kong but one definite experience to do if you want to see the fun side of the city is to visit during the Spring Lantern Festival.
The lantern festival is the equivalent of the Asian Valentine’s Day as many young lovers go on dates at this time.
Chinese traditions says that lanterns protect people from th spirits in the physical world and help to guide the spirits back to the land of the dead. Literally, thousands of lanterns light up the city on this day, which is celebrated on the night of the first full moon in the Chinese New Year, which in 2009 is expected to be the 9th February, so if you are looking for a romantic city break, why not try Hong Kong for the Spring Lantern Festival?
