If you were thinking of a city break in Scotland, 2009 sounds like the time to go.  A new project has been announced, called Homecoming Scotland, where Scotland will spend the whole of 2009 in celebration and events.  It’s their first ever homecoming year and it’s been planned to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the birth of their famous poet, Robert Burns.

There will be scottish clan gathering, art exhibitions and more.  Glasgow seems to have a lot planned.  The programme to date was released last Monday, 16th June, and according to the project director for Homecoming Scotland, there is much more still to come.

Edinburgh is a lovely city, with its castle, shopping and restaurants, although I’ve yet to visit Glasgow, so maybe I’ll plan that city break in for next year.
