Sydney airport upgrading facilities
The international airport at Sydney has just announced the new launch of an AUS $500 million (£240 million) in investment as an ongoing programme for improving the facilities within its busy international hub.
Those holiday makers and business customers are set to benefit through a large variety of planned developments within the airport terminal which includes a more restaurants and availability of extensive food and drinks including a wider range of shops to choose from.
Operations at the airport are also set for enhancement with the development of a new outbound baggage handling system and new carousels for bag reclaiming in the arrivals area, there are more waiting areas that are planned and a large amount of additional passenger seating.
Russell Balding, chief executive of Sydney airport, said there will be some disruption to travellers while work is taking place but the development will offer long-term benefits.
‘The new look terminal will provide new shops, restaurants and waiting areas,’ he said. ‘This follows feedback from customers that they want more variety, improved product range and dining options as well as comfortable places to wait for their flight.’
Flights run from Sydney airport via dozens of well known international airlines, including British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Emirates to name but a few.
