In 2008 we haven’t had the most cheerful time but it seems that the British are still not looking to cancel their travel plans for New Year and are still planning to invite 2009 with a bang because according to a leading search engine for flights it is New Year destinations for British that is topping the most popular searches for city break holidaying at the moment. In order of popularity these New Year City Break cities are the top ten British holiday destination searches at the moment.
1. London
2. Geneva
3. Malaga
4. Paris
5. Alicante
6. Tenerife
7. Amsterdam
8. Barcelona
9. Edinburgh
10. Dublin
Cities in the UK making the top ten list were London and Edinburgh although this also maybe because these are the two main cities that people would take flights to if they lived in the UK, other cities maybe easier to get to by car or train. Having said that London and Edinburgh are well known for their New Year celebrations and in Edinburgh, particularly, it is one huge street party weaving between the bars, clubs, houses and pubs, up country roads and into central city areas – Edinburgh is a city you go to when you want to seriously invite the New Year in.
The most popular British flight searches that just fell off the top ten were Rome, Madrid, Prague and Berlin and the least likely cities British are looking to spend New Year were Bergerac France, Poznan Poland, Verona Italy.
