The new Lufthansa airport lounge opens in New York

Premium rate passengers flying to New York at the John F Kennedy airport are now able to enjoy a huge modernised lounge that has been extended to accommodate more luxuries and services for those travellers.

The new airport facility now covers 1,500 square metres across 3 levels, which provides twice the amount of space as the as the previous lounge.

The new lounge is located on the third level of the airport and is dedicated only to those flying first class and to members of the HON Circle loyalty scheme.

This is the first lounge area of this type which is based outside the hubs of Lufthansa and Swiss Airlines in Frankfurt, Zurich and Munich and is the ‘highlight’ of the new refurbishment of JFK, according to Lufthansa.

Additional amenities which first class passengers can now enjoy include, pre-flight dinner area, showers and a bistro, bar including workstations for those travelling business class.

Lufthansa’s vice president, Oliver Wagner said: ‘The lounge at John F Kennedy airport is a walk-in advertisement for Lufthansa on the American continent and is an important component of our €150m investment programme to upgrade our lounges worldwide.’
