The U2 Tower of Dublin
August
30th
As regular readers will know, U2 finally got planning permission to extend and refurbish the Clarence Hotel in Dublin but that’s not the only thing they got permission for.
Reportedly, they are building a ‘U2 Tower’. It took some time because most European cities have a rule that no building can be built higher than the spire of the cathedral. After all, the cathedral spire is an ode to God so nothing should be above it. However, it seems that Dublin has broken this rule just for the U2 Tower, which will be quite a bit higher than the spire.
As the chappie on the Liffey Cruise is telling the people on his boat tour:
“What’s the difference between God and Bono?”
“God doesn’t walk down O’Connell Street thinking he’s Bono!”
