The most popular airport in the UK is Blackpool says a new survey which was held by the consumer magazine Which Holiday.

The North West airport has been given a full score on overall customer satisfaction of 80% which was only followed closely by London City airport where they received a customer rating of 78% for customer satisfaction.

Both the aforementioned airports were given a five star assessment for a number of factors which include the efficiency of staff during check-in, how much time it takes to clear at airport security and their overall travel experiences.

Terminal 5 at London Heathrow was ranked as joint 23rd out of 38 airport terminals that were rated, however, London airport’s Terminal 1 was right at the bottom of the list with a customer score of 31%.

Lorna Cowan, editor of Which? Holiday, said: ‘It seems clear that Which? members prefer the experience of flying from smaller regional airports to using the larger ones. So it is well worth looking into the routes offered from smaller airports when planning a holiday to short-haul destinations. But people still need to use Gatwick and Heathrow for long-haul trips - our results suggest that these large airports need to work much harder to provide a better service for their passengers.’
