Tips For Cheap Airport Parking

Sometimes, I’ve found a city break bargain so cheap that I just could not resist it but on occasion the airport parking has set me back more than the city break itself! By all means, airport parking is the best and most convenient way to do it - I certainly wouldn’t like to rely on a train or a bus - but it can be extremely expensive. Here are my tips for getting it as cheaply as possible:
- Book early - you can save as much as 25 per cent by booking it early enough
- Always pre-book - even if you book the night before you leave, it is cheaper than just turning up. Never, EVER, just turn up
- Promotional Codes - If you book online, most airports feature a promotional code entry, here you can input codes, which you find scattered around the internet, to get further discounts.
- Book the right package. You can park at the airport or park off airport. If you park off airport, you have a choice of transfer or meet a driver at the airport who will then take your car to the carpark off airport. Some are more expensive than others. The cheapest way to do it is park off airport and get a transfer to the airport, but if you have a very early or late flight that may not be an option.
- Cancellation waiver - If you’re booking extremely early, this might be worth taking out. On average, it costs something like £1 for a week’s booking and it means that if you need to cancel you’ll get all your money back. Worth thinking about
- Hire a car - this is an unusual option but sometimes cheaper if there are a few of you and you’re going away for some time, like three weeks. You pick the car up at your nearest depot and just drop it off at the airport. You can do the same on your return. Again, worth looking at
