To Vienna - for the UEFA Cup
When I heard the UEFA Cup Final was being hosted in Vienna this year, at first I wasn’t sure I would be able to go but then I realised what a blessing in disguise this was. A city break in Vienna wouldn’t be my first choice, but with its culture and history, its perfect to persuade my better-half that either a romantic break in Vienna was more for her than me or alternatively, to persuade her that I can go there without getting into trouble.
You see, Vienna is a city of real culture. The whole city reeks of it, with its imperial palaces and tours, famed coffee houses, a giant Prater ferris wheel and the Opera House.
I figure while I watch the football, my family would love to visit the Vienna House of Butterflies. Its right next door to the Opera House and contains hundreds of species of colourful butterflies flying freely through a tropical rainforest environment. There’s also the world’s oldest zoo, designer shops, bustling markets and the nightlife is fabulous. I highly recommend it - especially if combined with the UEFA Cup 2008. The final is being hosted in Vienna on 29th June 2008.
