Travellers ‘willing to pay for cultural experiences’
A recent survey revealed that travellers are more likely to pay more to gain the opportunity to learn about foreign cultures.
Over half the respondents (57%) who replied to the Visa and Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) survey claimed that they would be more likely to spend their money on a holiday which gives them the experience of different foreign cultures.
The majority of travellers, the survey also found were more willing to pay extra to receive good customer service when visiting foreign destinations.
Pata spokesperson Meranda Chan said: ‘As time is precious, people want to make the most out of their holidays and so are willing to spend more to have a unique experience that goes off smoothly. It is now easier than ever to travel to a wide range of destinations and people are using this opportunity to learn more about different cultures.’
President and CEO of the travel association, Greg Duffell claimed that interest in visiting exotic destinations was directly benefiting the tourism industry in the Asia Pacific.
PATA also released another survey earlier in the year revealing that people in the UK, US and Singapore were amongst those who were least likely to let the global recession prevent them from taking a holiday this year.
