Turkey Increasingly Popular
In the past, Spain has always been the most popular holiday hotspot for Brits, more so for last minute week in the sun trips than city breaks, but even the cities are popular with Barcelona and Madrid constantly in the top ten for popularity.
However, figures from Co-op Travel this week confirm that Turkey has outstripped most holiday hotspots, including Spain, in terms of popularity at the moment.
The Post Office also recently reported an increase in demand for Turkish currency.
The Co-op thinks this is because the pound has decreased in value against the euro, and they may be right.
I have been lucky enough to visit both countries and although I enjoyed Turkey and the city Istanbul, I must say that for city breaks, Spain beats Turkey hands down as far as I’m concerned.
