Visit Geneva
If I wanted chocolate or watches, I’d visit Geneva but apparently there’s much more to this city than just a few expensive watches and pieces of chocolate (as if that wasn’t reason enough in my book!)
No, apparently there’s much, much more!
Geneva is in South Switzerland but close to the French border. As well as watches and chocolate, there’s gorgeous scenery, beautiful lakes and a historical town with plenty of tourist attractions. In the main lake, there’s a fountain, originally an overflow valve for a hydroelectric plant, that shoots water over 140 metres into the air.
You can also visit the Assembly Hall in the Palais de Nations with its landscape grounds and art collection. There’s also a medieval cathedral, several modern museums, the promenades at the Parc des Eaux and Geneva Beach. There’s also a small zoo close to the woods. Lake Geneva is one of the largest lakes in Europe covering over 220 square miles. You can cross is by boat or steam ship and they operate from Easter through to October.
See, not just watches and chocolate then! (although I wouldn’t pay a visit without sampling the chocolate in a local fondue!)
