We Love Our Package Holidays

Well, according to recent figures released by the Office of National Statistics, we Brits really do love our package holidays - we took 19 million of them in 2007!
That was an increase of more than half a percent when compared to 2006. Our total visits abroad were even more, they increased by 2 percent to 71.6 million during the 12 months to the end of February 2008 and our spending increased even more - we spent 6 percent more in 2007 than 2006, making our total spend more then £33.6billion, wow!
Foreign visitors seem to like coming to visit Old Blighty on their holidays too. Their visits increased by about 3 percent to 33.9 million.
Now that the euro is getting more expensive, I think I might be giving my cheap package holiday to Spain a miss this year. I might have bought my euros earlier had I known, but it’s never been that expensive. I think I’ll wait and maybe take a short trip in the winter instead.
